2016-2017 BeachCats Mike Caglj Memorial Legacy Scholarship Recipient

Ryan graduated from Valhalla High School where he was active in campus student government for three years, played and coached volleyball, was on the water polo team, played in the Valhalla Jazz Band and also played guitar for church programs, founded and led Valhalla’s Young Republicans Club for four years – and earned a 4.1 GPA taking lots of Advanced Placement and Honors classes!

His work and community service included working as a State Senator’s intern, church retreat counselor, doing peer tutoring, teaching guitar, and acting in Scripps Health commercials. Ryan is a third generation Wildcat, following in the footsteps of his grandparents and his mother, and like them, an ardent Cats fan.

Ryan has been accepted into the ELITE pre-business program for freshmen at Eller College of Management and is excited to be one of the 100 students in this professional development opportunity. He plans to minor in political science because politics is a big part of his life and anticipates joining ASUA student government. After college he hopes to focus on government relations, combining his political and business interests working for an industry that works in coordination with city, state and federal agencies. His ultimate passion is to be a public servant as a member of the Arizona Legislature, U.S. Congress – and maybe even someday as the President of the United States – all as a proud Arizona alum.
